Irish & Celtic Christmas Tradition - Holly

Life and rebirth during Christmas in a traditional Irish home is represented by the beautiful glossy evergreen leaves and the bright festive berries of holly.  Holly perfectly decorated throughout the entire house helps brighten the season.

Up the stairs, over the mantle, around the candles, over the door, around the picture frames , once was known as a folklore superstition to shelter the fairy folk from the cold in the holly branches.  Shared amongst neighbors holly boughs were given as gifts.

Holly to the Celtics is a sign of life during a time when all else is bare, the brilliant red berries a sign of Spring to come, and amongst Christians in Ireland the new life in Christ.
